Deactivate
- Turns EdminBoost off
- Your EdminBoost settings stay in the database
- Reactivate the plugin and your configuration is still there
Delete (remove the plugin)
- Removes the plugin files
- EdminBoost runs uninstall cleanup and deletes its stored options from the database
What is removed on delete
When you delete EdminBoost (not just deactivate), the plugin removes:
- edminboost_settings — all Command Center, feature, and white label configuration
- edminboost_version — internal version marker used by the plugin
No custom database tables are created by EdminBoost; only these options are removed.
What is not removed
Deleting the plugin does not remove:
- Posts, pages, users, or other WordPress content
- Media Library files (including images you used for admin favicon or background)
- Settings from other plugins
- Changes EdminBoost already made while it was active (for example disabled comments or removed dashboard widgets)—those are separate from the edminboost_settings option. Turning the plugin off or removing it may not fully reverse every runtime change; review your site after uninstall if needed.
Before you delete
If you might install EdminBoost again or move to another site:
- Go to EdminBoost → Settings.
- Export settings and keep the JSON file safe.
After delete, that file is the only copy of your EdminBoost layout unless you have another backup.
How to delete the plugin
- Deactivate EdminBoost on Plugins.
- Click Delete on the EdminBoost row.
- Confirm when WordPress asks.
There is no separate “erase EdminBoost data” button inside the plugin; deletion from the Plugins screen triggers cleanup.
Reinstalling later
A fresh install starts with default settings. Use Import on Settings to restore from an exported JSON file.
