Upgrade steps (Free → Pro):
- Purchase Pro from the vendor site (links on Billing).
- Deactivate Trustbadg — do not delete (unless you want a clean uninstall).
- Upload the Pro ZIP via Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
- Choose Replace current with uploaded (WordPress 5.5+).
- Activate the plugin.
- Enter your license key when prompted (Freemius, Pro build only).
Your badge sets, settings, and metadata are preserved because both builds use the same plugin slug and data keys.
Before upgrading: Export a backup (Settings → Privacy → Import & Export) and/or enable Retain data on uninstall.
Downgrade (Pro → Free):
- Export your settings.
- Deactivate Trustbadg.
- Replace files with the free WordPress.org ZIP.
- Activate.
Pro-only meta is ignored safely on Free. Pro-specific features (Targeting tab, uploads, geo rules) will not be available.
Updates:
- Free — WordPress.org plugin updates
- Pro — Licensed updates through your store account (Freemius)
